Summer sees not only the rise in temperatures but increasing value in garden possessions, specialist home insurer Hiscox has revealed.
Over a fifth (21%) of homeowners have outdoor items they consider valuable, and more than half (53%) of high net worth individuals will be partaking in landscaping or planting new shrubs and bushes this summer.
More than one in 10 (11%) already possess sculptures or garden art, with 17% owning a fountain and 12% storing sports equipment outside.
Austyn Tusler, high value household insurance expert, has said that it is easy to overlook the garden when considering home insurance but warned that it is crucial homeowners do not fall into this trap.
Garden items, including water features, sports equipment, sculptures and furniture, can add up to a significant sum, exposing homeowners who neglect appropriate insurance cover to a potentially hefty financial hit.
