Greater Manchester Police have reported that two brothers who masterminded one of the country\u2019s biggest ever \u201ccrash for cash\u201d scams have been convicted.<\/p>\n
Rezwan Javed and Rehan Javed, both of Dovedale Close, Burnley, Lancashire, have been found guilty after a trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court of conspiracy to defraud and possession of an article for use in fraud.<\/p>\n
The two ran North West Claims Centre Ltd, a Burnley company which managed insurance claims.<\/p>\n
They organised fraudulent claims following collisions deliberately caused by other members of an organised crime group.<\/p>\n
The scam was eventually exposed by office workers at Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, who observed that the same motorist was frequently involved in minor accidents at a nearby roundabout, and reported their suspicions.<\/p>\n
The driver, Mohammed Patel, received a custodial sentenced for his part in the conspiracy last year.<\/p>\n
