{"id":268,"date":"2013-06-26T14:32:04","date_gmt":"2013-06-26T14:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sure2insure.co.uk\/?p=268"},"modified":"2013-06-26T14:32:04","modified_gmt":"2013-06-26T14:32:04","slug":"cost-of-uk-flooding-hits-five-year-high","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sure2insure.co.uk\/?p=268","title":{"rendered":"Cost of UK flooding hits five year high"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aon Benfield\u2019s catastrophe model development centre of excellence has released its latest monthly Global Catastrophe Recap report.<\/p>\n<p>The report reveals that the recent floods to hit the UK damaged over 1,100 homes, and, according to a PricewaterhouseCoopers\u2019 report, are likely to cost insurers up to \u00a3500m.<\/p>\n<p>This will increase the total cost of floods to insurers during 2012 to \u00a31bn and make it the most expensive year for floods since 2007, when prolonged flooding cost \u00a33bn.<\/p>\n<p>The year has also seen flooding in Indonesia, Panama, Haiti and the Congo.<\/p>\n<p>President of Impact Forecasting Steve Jakubowski explained that Europe traditionally suffered some flooding each year, adding that Aon Benfield continually revised and developed its modelling suite.<\/p>\n<p>source: www.insurancedaily.co.uk<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aon Benfield\u2019s catastrophe model development centre of excellence has released its latest monthly Global Catastrophe Recap report.
